Supplies for Making a Patriotic Scarf
- 100g Red Yarn
- 100g White Yarn
- 100g Blue Yarn
- 3mm Crochet Hook
- Tapestry Needle

Section Measurements
- Each Blue strip with length 11.2 inch.
- Each White strip with length 2.8 inch.
- Each Red strip with length 2.8 inch.
- When finished, the scarf will contain 2 Blue strips, 9 Red strips, and 8 White strips.
Finished Measurements
- Length: 70 inch (168cm)
- Width: 7 inch (16.8cm)
Abbreviations
The instructions below use standard US crochet terminology:
- Ch = Chain(s)
- Hdc = HaIf Double Crochet
- St = Stitch(es)
Pattern Notes
- 2 chains on the beginning of the row count as st.
- Number in parentheses is the number of stitches in that row.
- Changes between colors work as follows:
- Stop before the last stitch of the row.
- Work the last HDC to the point where only 3 loops are left on the hook.
- Wrap the cut end of the new yarn around the hook, from back to front.
- Draw the new yarn through the 2 loops on your hook.
- Tug on the dropped end of the old yarn at the base of the HDC to tighten up the stitch.
Gauge
- 20 DC & 10 rows = 3 inch
Instructions for Making a Patriotic Scarf
Step 1:
- With the blue yarn, start with ch37 + ch2 (as height), turn.
- Row 1: hdc in 3rd ch from hook, 36hdc on next 36ch, ch2, turn. (38hdc)
- Row 2: hdc in 3rd ch from hook, 36hdc on next 36ch, ch2, turn. (38hdc)
- Row 3: hdc in 3rd ch from hook, 36hdc on next 36ch, ch2, turn. (38hdc)
Step 2:
- Rows 4 to 44: Repeat Row 3 for 40 more times, fasten off.
Step 3:
- With red yarn, (follow picture in pattern note to know how to change color), ch2, turn.
- Row 45: hdc in 3rd ch from hook, 36hdc on next 36ch, ch2, turn. (38hdc)
- Rows 46 to 56: Repeat Row 45 for 10 more times, fasten off.
Step 4:
- With white yarn (follow picture in pattern note to know how to change color), ch2, turn.
- Row 57: hdc in 3rd ch from hook, 36hdc on next 36ch, ch2, turn. (38hdc)
- Rows 58-68: Repeat Row 57 for 10 more times, fasten off.
Step 5:
- Repeat Steps 3 & 4 seven more times.
- Repeat Step 3 one more time.
- Repeat Step 2 one more time.
